CHS Basketball Fans - Two important clarifying points. Players will be given game passes to distribute as they see fit. There are no extra tickets, and none will be sold. You must have your pass to get in.
There will be no spectators for Away fans at any Apollo Conference schools. Links will be provided prior to all non-conference contests. Here is a link to see the livestreaming sites for all of our conference schools (which includes Teutopolis for the 2020-2021 school year). https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AEecEFvNLN-6TKv_Cp2njzYgSoQrou8dKfIRBqSrlV4/edit

Good morning,
Please remember that completing the FAFSA is now a graduation requirement! All students planning to go on to college should complete FAFSA if they haven't already done so. If your student is not planning to attend college, they can complete the waiver which can be found on the guidance page on the CHS website or your student can stop by the guidance office for a copy. When completed it needs submitted to the guidance office to cover the graduation requirement. We will be checking very soon to see who still needs to meet this requirement!
Also, many scholarships have been added to the guidance page and we will continue to add them as they come into our office. Please go check them out!
Please contact your student's counselor with any questions.
Thank you,
Allison Meeker and Beth Nelson

CHS Art Students were invited to rethink the classic elementary school
idea of the hand turkey and to put a more creative and personal spin
on the concept. It didn't even have to be a turkey! This assignment was voluntary for extra credit. These are the second four. Enjoy!

CHS is sponsoring a Blood Drive at Unique Suites Hotel from 1-6 on Monday, November 30. We already have 16 donors signed up online. The Red Cross is still doing the COVID antibody testing for free with each completed donation which is an added bonus. The plasma of donors with COVID antibodies has been very helpful in the treatment of those currently fighting the virus.

Due to recent mitigations put in place by IDPH and IHSA, all high school athletics are temporarily put on pause, effective today 11/20/20. There will be no open gyms, practices, conditioning, or competition during this time. The only exception would be if the activity takes place outdoors, with 10 or less participants who are socially distanced and wearing a face covering.
IHSA will discuss the restart of the winter athletic season at their December board meeting.

Congratulations to our CHS Trojans who have signed to continue their athletic careers in college.
Ben Hess - Baseball - Indiana
Shae Littleford - Basketball - UT Martin
Ty Coartney - Baseball - Lake Land
There will be more to come.
Congratulations!!

Over the next couple weeks Charleston High School will be posting videos going over the specifics of the CHS reopening plan for students returning to in-person instruction and students remaining in remote learning. The plan can be found in its entirety on our website.
Transportation: Students and their families are encouraged to provide their own transportation if possible. Students who ride the bus will report to door #5 for their health screening. Students that are driving themselves to school will also utilize door #23. (Door #23 is located on the north side of the building between the cafeteria and the media center.) Students that are being dropped off will report to door #5 for their health screening. (Door #5 is located at the Baker gym entrance on the south side of the building.)
Arrival:
Doors will not open until 7:50.
Tutorial begins at 8:20
Class begins at 8:40
As students line up for health screening social distancing guidelines should be maintained. After a student’s health screening has been completed, a student will report directly to their tutorial class (even if it is before 8:20) unless they are eating breakfast then they will report directly to the cafeteria. Students that are eating breakfast will report directly to their tutorial period after they have finished breakfast.
Tutorial class is determined by a student’s first class of the day. For example
Scarlet Day=1st-period teacher
Gold Day= 2nd-period teacher

Today is day number two of SAT testing here at CHS. Students that are not testing should utilize today to connect with teachers and work to complete any missing assignments. Students are encouraged to reach out to their teachers with any questions. As a reminder CHS does not schedule parent-teacher conferences specifically on October 15th and 16th, but rather throughout the year on an as needed basis.

Just a reminder all seniors need to report to CHS tomorrow morning, Wednesday, October 14 at 8:25 for SAT testing. Please contact Beth Nelson or Allison Meeker with any questions at 217-639-5020.
