REGISTRATION INFORMATION

There are two parts to the registration process for Charleston CUSD#1. Part 1, shown below, has some specific forms and documents for your student relative to the grade/building they will be attending. In addition, all children need to have the appropriate health and immunization records. Part 2 of the registration process is online registration through Skyward Family Access. Online Registration for the 2023 school year will open on July 6, 2022 at 7:00 a.m.

If your child is new to Charleston Schools, then you will need to fill out a new student form specific to the building the student will attend and contact the school to make an appointment with the Registrar. Once this is completed, you will be able to proceed with online registration through Skyward Family Access.

PART 2

A Skyward Family Access Account is needed to finish registering your child. If you do not have a family access account with Skyward or have forgotten your user name and/or password, please send a message to Education Data Systems. Include the name(s) of your student(s) and school(s) they will be attending. For those who need assistance or do not have access to a computer, please visit your child's school to receive help with the registration process, or contact Central Office at (217) 639-1000.

This document illustrates the steps you will be completing through the Skyward online registration process. As you register, please take time to review all information in each step to verify that it is complete and accurate. Once you have completed all of the steps, you will have the option of paying your fees online or submitting payment directly to your child's building.

Complete the steps for your child(ren) by selecting the Online Registration tab in Skyward Family Access. Instead of the Skyward App, use a web browser to successfully complete online registration.

  • What are the registration fees?

  • How can I pay online?

    • e-Funds for Schools is an online payment program that ties into Skyward. You can read more about e-Funds here.

    • The e-Funds Registration Guide has step-by-step directions to set up your account.

You'll first need to locate your Family ID in Skyward so that you can enter that number when creating your e-Funds for Schools account. The registration guide shows you how to locate the Family ID in Skyward.

  • When will I know what teacher(s) or schedule my student will have?

    • Schedules/Teachers will be visible in Family Access for students in grades 1-12 on August 5. The passwords for all CMS/CHS students have been reset, so only parents/guardians will be able to login.

Look at the "Student Information" tab to identify your middle school student's Homeroom as red/gold team. See example for Skyward App or Skyward Web Browser.

    • Teacher's names will be visible in Family Access for Kindergarten students at Mark Twain on August 12. Look at the "Schedule" tab to find the name of your student's teacher.

  • How do I know what bus my child will be riding? Contact the bus garage with questions at (217) 345-3016.
