Mrs. Sanders' Child Development classes are learning how to care for infants by using the RealCare Babies. Students are having so much fun learning these skills and are doing a great job!

The Charleston High School Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is excited to announce that we are bringing back Kermit's Cove Preschool for the 2025-2026 School Year. Kermit's Cove is eligible for Preschool age children ages 3-5 years old who are fully potty trained. This program will be implemented by students enrolled in the Child Daycare Services course at Charleston High School.
Kermit's Cove will begin on September 8, 2025. The preschool will operate Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 8 am to 9:45 am and will follow the Charleston Community Unit School District 1 academic calendar There will be no cost to families for the program for the 2025-2026 school year.
This program allows high school students enrolled in the CHS Child Daycare Services course hands-on experience working with preschool age children while they plan and use developmentally appropriate practices that promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of young children. Students will create developmentally appropriate lessons and activities to support classroom themes and learning experiences for preschool children.
Interested families may complete the Kermit's Cove registration form that may be located at the Charleston High School website at https://www.charleston.k12.il.us/o/chs or contact Danielle Pendergast-White at pendergastwhited@charleston.k12.il.us. Applications are due by August 11, 2025.
