Tonight is the final performance of the CMS production of School House Rock Jr. - you don’t want to miss the outstanding performance! The show starts at 7 p.m. in CHS’s Swickard Auditorium. The talented cast, under the direction of Mr. Mellott and Ms. Pantle, will blow you away.
Students from Mrs. Hansel's kindergarten class and Mrs. Morgan's 7th grade EPIC class partnered to celebrate Dr. Suess week! They took turns reading books, made oobleck and planted flowers!

Each month, Charleston Middle School emphasizes one positive habit from our district's Leader in Me culture. For February, students were taught to "Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood". We celebrate these habits by holding monthly assemblies that showcase the featured life skill as well as recognize students who have displayed the attribute. A special thanks to our committee for coordinating the assemblies. (More photos in additional post.)

At Charleston Middle School, 7-Red students in Mrs. Morgan’s math classes recently worked together on an assignment on triangles to "break out" of the padlocked tool boxes. Pictured are some groups who successfully completed the project.

Charleston Middle School recently published another edition of Classroom Courier. The student-written newspaper is overseen by 7 Gold ELA teacher Mrs. Bickford. Free copies are now available at area businesses. Pick up a copy and check out our talented students' hard work.
Any 7th or 8th grade student interested in track & field this spring, there will be a parent meeting this Thursday at 5:30 PM in the CMS cafeteria.

Our very own Mr. Mellott received a singing Valentine as part of a fundraiser provided by local barbershop quartet members. Proceeds are distributed among local school music programs. CMS extends our gratitude for generous community support of our students.
The eighth-grade volleyball tournament hosted by CMS is happening now! It's already been a great morning with Nora Gannaway singing the National Anthem and CMS taking the win over Teutopolis. Go, Trojans!
Congratulations to CMS 8th grader Trixie Brantley, who finished in 2nd place at yesterday’s Coles County Spelling Bee.
The Coles County Spelling Bee is currently underway at Charleston Middle School. Three CMS students - Austin F., Peyton W., and Trixie B - will be competing against qualifying students from Mattoon and Oakland for a chance to Regionals. Best of l-u-c-k to the students!
