CHS Daily Announcements

Today’s Announcements are for Friday, January 27, 2023

Attention sophomores and juniors: Please check your email for an important message regarding the CHS internship program. Applications and teacher recommendations are due by February 17, 2023. If you are looking for an internship within the school, we offer placements within CHS Industries such as working in Trojan Brew, Trojan Design Center making t-shirts and/or posters, creating/updating the webpage and social media, Trojan A & M Center, and the Trojan Greenhouse. Links to all required documents are in the email. An internship (in or outside of the building) is an excellent opportunity to learn more about a career field of interest prior to graduation. See Mrs. Niebrugge with questions.

Student Council is excited to announce the Sadie's dance on Saturday, February 25th from 7-9pm in Baker Gym. This year's theme will be 'Swan Lake'. Tickets sales will take place in the Media Center on February 13th through the 24th for $5. Students can pick up a guest pass in the office and are allowed to bring one guest. All guest passes need to be turned into the office by February 22nd. As a reminder, heels are not allowed on the gym floor.

Charleston High School is partnering with the EIU Women’s Basketball Team to raise funds for the SIXTH annual CARE Game. This year Interact Club and Student Council are teaming up and placing collection jars in the office and media center for students to place donations. The class that raises the most funds will receive a prize and points towards the Class Cup. Please try and stop in and make a donation! Donations will end February 1st.

Seniors-The Elizabeth Ann Weidner Memorial Scholarship and the Daily Farm Scholarship have been updated on the CHS local scholarship page.

We are reviving the CHS Unite organization this semester.  This group is intended to be a racially diverse group that works on uniting our students and staff by raising awareness of the rich history and cultures of the many races and nationalities represented here at CHS.  Our goal will be to educate, inform  and share information as well as provide a safe and inviting place for minorities in our CHS family.

Our meetings will be during the lunch hours on early dismissal days.  You can bring your lunch to room 412.  Our first meeting will be this Friday, Jan 27.  This will be an organizational meeting to begin the process of electing officers and getting acquainted with the goals of the group.

Explore more in 2024. Let's go to the top of the world! Please pop into room 207 during lunch today to find out more information about an exciting trip to Iceland.

The library will be closed for the first half of lunch, but will open around 11:30.
