Today’s Announcements are for Tuesday October 4, 2022

EIU will be doing an all-day, on-site application day!  On October 5th, representatives will be here all day in the library, to help with the application process for those who are interested in attending EIU. Please bring your laptops with you. See the guidance department if you have any questions. 

Any seniors that would be interested in their community college or vocational education being paid for and have a job secured with a successful organization, all before they graduate high school should check out the scholarship opportunity with South Central FS. More information about this scholarship has been emailed to all seniors and it is also on the CHS guidance department local scholarship page. 

 There will be an Interact Meeting on Thursday October 6th starting at 8:20 A.M. in room 401 (Mrs. Brimner's room) to go over October's activities. All are welcome. 

 Juniors- the deadline to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT has been extended until this Friday, October 7th.  It is first come, first serve.  Sign up in the guidance office, pay your $18.00, and receive the study guide. 

 Juniors and Seniors – Industry Day, sponsored by Coles Together, has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2022.  This is a fun day for you to learn more about the businesses located in our Charleston-Mattoon community and the job opportunities they offer.  Bus transportation and lunch will be provided.  Please sign up and pick up an information sheet in the Guidance Office.  The deadline to sign up is Thursday, October 13

Eastern is excited to once again offer a scholarship at this year's Coles County Clash! The $2,000 scholarship drawing will only be open to seniors from Mattoon and Charleston High School, and the winners, one from each school, will be announced Friday evening, October 7, during halftime of the football game. All any student has to do is apply to EIU by Thursday, October 6th. The application only takes about 20 minutes and is completely free, test scores optional, and no essays required! 

The Charleston Rotary Club wants to talk with you about being an exchange student next school year. Rotary will soon be taking applications for next year's exchange student program. To learn how you might qualify to be a Rotary Youth Exchange student, contact Interact sponsor Mrs. Brimner in Room 401. Students must contact Rotary by Friday, Oct. 7.

During the Charleston vs Mattoon football game on Friday October 7th Charleston High School will be participating in the Tackle Hunger Campaign. We’re collecting food & funds at Friday night’s game. All donations will benefit Eastern Illinois Foodbank. Which school will raise the most meals? Please bring donations of either food or funds to the game on Friday October 7th and look for the Charleston High School table. If you have any questions or if you're an Interact Member and would like to work the table please see Mrs. Brimner. 

 Head to the front office to buy your tickets to the Coles County Clash football game on October 7th. Tickets are $5, cash only please.

 The Digital Photography class is doing a fund-raising event. They are offering Mini Photo sessions. The cost is $25 per session. The photo sessions will take place on Saturday October 15th from 1:00pm to 4:30 pm at the Charleston Lake Park. Please contact Grace Coffey during 4th or 5th hour or Mrs. Stark to Schedule your appointment. This is a great opportunity to get your Senior, Sports, or family pictures taken. We have limited spots available. Please make sure to complete payment and appointment ahead of time. 

Trojan Brew will be open this week Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:45-8:30am,  In room 236 just past the media center.  Come see us for hot or iced coffee or hot chocolate. Thank you to our regulars, we appreciate your support. 

Delaney Meister and Madeline Sanders will be representing CHS this Friday at the Girls State Golf meet.  As well as Hudson Meister for the Boys Golf team.  Congratulations and good luck!
