Good morning CHS!
· Seniors – the EIU Martin Luther King Jr essay scholarship contest has been posted on the CHS guidance local scholarship page. The flyer has also been emailed to all senior students.
· The Charleston Rotary Club is now accepting applications from students to be Rotary Youth Exchange students in the 2026-27 school year. Rotary Youth Exchange is for high school students ages 15-18. Most students go on exchange their junior year or the year after graduation, before starting college. Rotary exchanges with about 40 countries and you will be hosted by two or three families. Rotary provides a $75 a month allowance during the exchange. To apply or for more information, see Ms. Scamihorn, the Interact Club sponsor, in Room 412 by September 26.
· Looking for something fun to do on Saturday night? Come to the Doudna Fine Arts Center at EIU and see Maximum Forte perform as the opening act for the world class vocal band, Six Appeal. The concert is at 7:30pm and will feature a cappella groups Maximum Forte, EIU Blue Fusion, Six Appeal and more! Tickets are available online for students and staff at https://www.eiu.edu/doudna .
· Come to the Thread n’ Gold clothing room and help us clear out our summer clothing to make room for our fall and winter clothing. Stop by room 107 in the basement to fill out a request card. As always, everything is free!
· Attention all current interns: Monday, September 22 is the last WIN class meeting for this month. If you missed your assigned WIN, you must attend on Monday. We will meet in the media center in MC1 at 11:30 am. See Mrs. Niebrugge with questions.
· Students, please check your email for a survey checking for interest in a course about American Sign Language.
· The following schools will be here during lunch next week: Bradley University will be Monday, September 22. McKendree University will be here Tuesday, Sept 23rd. Indiana State University will be here Thursday, September 25th.
· Students, are you interested in tabletop games – like Dungeons & Dragons, card games, or board games? We’re starting a new Tabletop Games Club, and we want to see who’s interested. Come to our first meeting on Wednesday, September 24th during WIN B in room 312. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, everyone is welcome.
