Juniors and Seniors – Industry Day, sponsored by Coles Together, has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 18, 2023. This is an opportunity for you to tour and learn more about the businesses located in our Charleston-Mattoon community and the job opportunities they offer. Bus transportation and lunch will be provided. Please sign up and pick up an information sheet in the Guidance Office. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 4.
The following representatives will be here this week: McKendree University on 10/2, Illinois College 10/3 (1:00-2:00), Quincy University 10/6
All will be here over lunch and set up at the cafeteria doors.
Illinois College will be set up outside the guidance office from 1-2.
Sign-ups for these colleges are in the hallway between the foods lab and Kermit’s Cove.
October 1st-7th is Banned Books Week. This year's theme is Let Freedom Read. In June, Illinois became the first state to pass anti-book banning legislation: "House Bill 2789 declares it to be the policy of Illinois to 'encourage and protect the freedom of libraries and library systems to acquire materials without external limitation and to be protected against attempts to ban, remove, or otherwise restrict access to books or other materials.'"
