Today’s Announcements are for Tuesday, April 11, 2023

Testing rosters have been posted for all 9th-11th graders and the few 12th graders that are required to take state testing on Wednesday, April 12th. Please find your name and testing room location ahead of time so you can be prepared. If you don't see your name, please see your counselor in the guidance office. You will need to bring #2 pencils and a calculator with you on testing day. Snacks and waters will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. 

 Seniors-Reminder you do not need to attend CHS on Wednesday, April 12th due to state testing. Plan to complete a Take a Student to Workday or college visit. 

 Join student council in celebrating Spirit Friday on April 14th with Decades Day.  Dress in clothing that represents your favorite decade to participate.

 May 1st is Decision Day.  Students will be dismissed from your English class and the Journalism class will be taking photos of Seniors in the media center. More information will be available closer to the date.

 Attention Prom Goers! Free dresses will be available Wednesday, April 19th afterschool till 4 pm in the 400 wing.  Come and see what a wide selection we have.  This will be a one day only event and the remaining dresses will be donated. 

Seniors-Charleston Squadron #93, of the Sons of the American Legion is sponsoring an art/essay contest to honor our fallen veterans. There is prize money for the winners. See your school email or Mrs. Nelson in the guidance office for more details.

 If you are interested in working this summer as a Lifeguard at the Charleston Rotary Community Aquatic Center, We will be holding ‘Open Water Interviews’ Tonight on Tuesday April 11th and tomorrow on Wednesday April 12th at 6:45pm at Lantz Pool on the campus of EIU.

 If you are a strong swimmer, like to be outdoors and have a heart for helping others, then consider joining our team. You must be at least 15 to go through our Red Cross lifeguard Training and 16 to work for the City of Charleston this summer. Open Water interview is for anyone who wants to try out for the Lifeguard class. If we hire you, we will provide your training. If you are already certified, please show up to show us your pre-reqs. Please bring a swimsuit, towel and goggles if you have them (not required). You will be swimming for this interview. Any questions, please phone, Gena Epperson 217-549-9223.

 CHS Co-Ed Cheer Tryouts are this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at the Middle School gym from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tryout packets are available in the offices at both CHS and CMS. For questions, see or contact Mrs. Snoddy."

 The library has discarded books available for students to take. Most of these books are old nonfiction books. They are on tables along the east wall, which is the wall shared with the cafeteria. Any books remaining by midweek next week will be recycled or donated.

 The library will be closed both Wednesday and Thursday this week for testing. Students will have no access to printers, tech repairs, die cuts, and it will not be open during the lunch periods.
