Class of 2020 Graduation Information

May 15th Virtual Graduation Ceremony – family and friends of the Class of 2020 will be able to be part of a traditional Charleston High School graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be posted on the Charleston District website on Friday May 15th. Everything will be like the ceremony normally held at Lantz Arena. Students will be dressed in cap, gown, and tassel. Class members will be speaking and each student’s name will be read by CHS teachers. Parents/Guardians should hand out the diploma to their student. Mr. Doughty will present the class of 2020 to Mr. Vilardo and will lead the class of 2020 in the tassel ceremony and cap toss. 


Information for 2020 Seniors - The tassel should be worn on the right side until we turn it to the left side during the tassel ceremony. Class of 2020 should have their diplomas for the ceremony on the evening of May 15th. Diplomas will be distributed in a drive through manner on May 14th and May 15th just outside Baker Gym doors. This is not a ceremony but merely a pick-up of diplomas for the ceremony on the evening of May 15th.

  1. Students with last name beginning with A-L may pick up on either May 14th from 8:00a.m.-11:00 a.m. OR on May 15th from 12:00p.m.-3:00 p.m. 

  2. Students with last name beginning with M-Z may pick up on either May 14th from 12:00p.m.-3:00 p.m. OR on May 15th from 8:00a.m. - 11:00a.m.

We will attempt to hold a traditional formal graduation ceremony on:

June 26th at 8:00 p.m. on Trojan Hill with a rain date of June 27th

 (Graduation practice will be at 9:00 a.m. on June 26th at Trojan Hill.)

Alternate dates if the June 26th date is not possible due to social distancing restrictions will be:

  • July 10th (Rain date July 11th) 
  • July 24th (Rain date July 25th)
  • August 7th (Rain date August 8th)
