Monday 11/11 starts our school wide color theme. Over the next two weeks, students at Mark Twain will be focusing on color words. Students will be learning how to spell and read 11 color words. We encourage students to wear the color of the day each day. See you Monday in your red (you can throw white and blue in there also in honor of Veteran's Day!)

As October came to an end, so did Mark Twain's October attendance incentive! Congratulations to the following classrooms who had a 96% attendance rate or better and earned an extra recess today: Ms. Gentry (AM preschool), Ms. Dennis, and Mrs. Zigler. Each month we will continue to calculate our monthly attendance rate and try and beat the month prior. Stay tuned for our November incentive.

Mark Twain's October Celebration is tomorrow!
Parade will start promptly at 1:15. Please refer to the email that was sent out yesterday for additional details regarding the parade. Students are welcome to wear their school friendly costumes to school. (Masks can be worn during the parade, but not during the school day)

October 31 is our October Celebration. All students are encouraged to dress up for school in a kid friendly costume. All classrooms will also be having their fall parties, and we will end the day with a costume parade at 1:15. We invite all parents to join us at 1:15 to watch the parade. Please references the attached images for additional information about our celebration and for a map of the parade route. Information will also be coming home in your child's backpack.
Mark Twain students will get their Leader in Me shirts today at school and will wear them home to keep! We will have 1-2 Leader in Me shirt days per month. Mark your calendars with these dates for the year.

What would be more fitting on red day than to have the fire department visit? Thank you Charleston Fire Department for helping with our #leaderinme monthly celebration by letting us tour the smokehouse and sit in the fire truck. Mark Twain students had the best time tie dying our Leader in Me shirts yesterday and can't wait to see how they turn out! Thank you CHS athletes, CMS art students, and EIU women's basketball team for helping us. We will have 1-2 "Leader in Me shirt days" per month and we encourage students wear their shirts on those days. Shirts will be sent home October 18.
