Jefferson students were given the opportunity to understand the election process from start to finish. The two candidates: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Nerds Gummy Clusters Our students even had a designated precinct here at JES Election totals: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups:238 Nerds Gummy Clusters: 235 Our overall winner (by 3 votes) ... Jefferson Elementary students hosted their presidential candy debates this week. In which each classroom chose a candy, made signs, and created chants to represent the candy. The two candidates are: Nerd Gummy Clusters vs. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. We are excited to have our own Election Day here next week! #JeffersonCUSD1

In Mrs. Golden's classroom the students made Protein Monster Cookies, a fun way to incorporate math. The students were able to practice fractions by doubling the recipe! The students had so much fun, and boy were they delicious! Students are also learning about chemical reactions, in which they created a puking pumpkin! #JeffersonCUSD1

College of Education Alumni Award Nomination The COE Alumni Awards are presented to EIU Alumni whose degree is in a program within the College of Education Mrs. Kim Shambo recently received the Rising Star award for recipients who are within 10 years of graduation from EIU. These individuals have excelled in their field or in the career for which the COE degree prepared them. Today Mrs. Shambo also celebrates her birthday. A very BIG Happy Birthday Mrs. Shambo!!

Mrs. King and Mrs. Golden's classroom took a trip to tour the Charleston Fire Department for fire safety month. The students toured the station, a fire engine, and an ambulance. They also experienced a test page and seen some of the tools that are used at fire scenes. Thank you, Charleston Fire Department!!!! #JeffersonCUSD1
