Jefferson Elementary School -

6th grade GATE students completed a Mock Trial of the state vs Mr. Marlo with Judge Bower and held the trial at the courthouse. The jury, made up of parents and teachers, found Mr. Marlo guilty of using a school computer to purchase a book on Abraham Lincoln for personal use. #JeffersonCUSD1

Jefferson’s tree, along with those from the other elementary schools, was on display at EIU for students and parents to enjoy. The students created ornaments in art class specifically to decorate the tree. #JeffersonCUSD1

The 4th grade art classes recently learned about the Japanese artist Hokusai and his print, The Great Wave. They created their own Great Wave projects and learned how to blend analogous colors for the background. Pictured are the Awesome Artists. Not pictured Evelyn and Berkeley. #JeffersonCUSD1

The 6th graders recently completed a unit on Tim Burton in art class. They studied his characters from his movies and learned about value. They created self-portraits in the style of Tim Burton. Pictured are the 6th grade awesome artists. Not pictured Dominic. #JeffersonCUSD1

Jefferson GATE students have been playing a national stock market game in teams this year. Fourth grade team (Black Hole) has been ranked first in the region out of 114 teams for the past 3 days based upon their stock, bonds, and mutual fund investments.  #JeffersonCUSD1

Fifth grade is in the lead for most items donated for Food 4 Kids! One of our grades is going to win an extra recess!  Students have until next Tuesday to donate! #JeffersonCUSD1
