District Education Philosophy

The School District strives to provide each student with the opportunity to acquire the very best education according to his or her needs and abilities. Upon leaving the school system, each student should have an employable skill and/or an adequate preparation for further training or education so that he or she may become a responsible, productive citizen. The schools also attempt to develop in each student an understanding of and appreciation for our American heritage.

Charleston CUSD #1 Notice of Nondiscrimination

The District does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including in employment. Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to the District's Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both. The District's Title IX Coordinator is Dr. Todd J. The District's nondiscrimination policy and grievance procedures can be located on our district’s website under Board Polices (2:265). A person who wishes to report information about conduct that may constitute sex discrimination or make a complaint of sex discrimination under Title IX, may make a report to the Title IX Coordinator, Nondiscrimination Coordinator, Building Principal, Assistant Building Principal, Dean of Students, a Complaint Manager, or any employee with whom the person is comfortable speaking. The district’s training materials for individuals designated as Title IX Coordinator(s), investigators, decision-makers, and informal resolution facilitators are available upon request.
