Annually observed on the Wednesday during American Education Week, National Education Support Professionals Day honors the contributions of ALL school support employees. They include all secretaries, paraprofessionals, classroom aides, cafeteria workers, maintenance workers, bus drivers, school nurses, technology support, and more. Every year since 1987, we have celebrated these valuable employees' dedication and commitment to education, but this year especially, we have seen ESPs go well beyond their normal expectations. They have been valued and appreciated more than ever, too.
Whether they were busy preparing and/or passing out meals to our community, sanitizing school buildings, maintaining proper HVAC systems, supporting distance learning, making phone calls to check on students, dropping off supplies to students at their homes, subbing for teachers when they are ill, conducting health screenings, or rolling out new technology software/hardware, ESPs have proven just how important each of their roles are to the district as a whole during this pandemic. They come to work each day ready to take on any new challenges, and ready to help ensure students are safe, healthy, and ready to learn. Their commitment to education is priceless, and they deserve all the respect and praise we could possibly give them. Today, and everyday!
