This week, CMS 7th graders discussed how our country came together and was unified after the events of September 11, 2001. We had conversations on just how all of us, who remember that day, will never forget where we were nor how we felt. Our 7th graders were able to make great connections of that day with the challenges we face today. CMS 7th graders are resilient, patient, respectful and eager to interact and learn. Please take time to share your 9/11 experiences with your families. You are a primary source to that moment in history.

Attention all 6th 7th & 8th grade girls and boys! Cross Country practice is set to begin on Monday August 10th at 7:30am at Charleston Middle School. Cross Country is a no-cut sport and any interested students are encouraged to give it a try. No experience is necessary. Newcomers are brought along gradually and carefully. Our teams compete hard, but also have a great deal of fun playing games and making new friends. Monday is primarily an information day but we will get in a short workout weather permitting. If there are storms we will meet for about 30 minutes inside to discuss the first few weeks of practice and to hand out paper work to anyone who needs it. Athletic packets can be picked up in advance at the CMS office. Students Please drop off and pick up your athletes in the west horseshoe parking lot of CMS. Bring a water bottle! We hope a bunch of you might be brave enough to try something new. Cross Country is a really fun and exciting sport. You must have a current physical on file and must have the Covid player waiver filled out before you can practice. Each month, Charleston Middle School emphasizes one positive habit from our district's Leader in Me culture. For February, students were taught to "Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood". We celebrate these habits by holding monthly assemblies that showcase the featured life skill as well as recognize students who have displayed the attribute. A special thanks to our committee for coordinating the assemblies. (More photos in additional post.)
