Illinois Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will be awarding over 100 $500 scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2020-21 academic year.The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the State of Illinois.Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents.Scholarships are to be utilized at institutions of higher learning within the State of Illinois.Students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2020-21 school year.

SBLHF Lloyd & Selma Sweeney Scholarship

Two $5,000 will be awarded, primarily based on student financial need and administered as follows:One scholarship will be awarded to a student graduating from high school in Coles or Douglas County and pursuing a degree in Healthcare of Healthcare-related field.The other scholarship will be awarded to a student graduating from high school in Coles or Douglas County and pursuing a degree in Agriculture.

To be eligible the applicant must be a high school senior or an undergraduate or graduate student in a post-secondary school, be enrolled in a field of agriculture, exhibit potential for successful completion of degree & a resident of Illinois.

The first 6 scholarships require the applicant to be a CCFB member or a child of a member.(The Lori Oakley scholarship prefers an agriculture, veterinarian

or medical field of study).

The Moore scholarship requires the applicant to be a Coles County resident.

The Farmers Grain of Dorans does not require the applicant to live in Coles County.Preference is given to patrons (and their immediate family members) of the Farmers Grain of Dorans.

Outstanding Diocesan Catholic Female Senior Leadership Scholarship

Four $500 scholarships will be awarded to an outstanding Catholic, female high school senior who exemplifies SDCCW’s mission, values of leadership, faith and service.

Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Champaign Chapter

Total scholarships awarded will be a minimum of $1,000 and may be given to one or more applicants at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.Applicants must be a US Citizen, a high school senior, have a minimum of 3.0 gpa (on a 4.0 scale), have a SAT score of 600 Math and 500 Verbal or ACT score of 29 Math and 25 English, and must live within the County Chapter of Champaign, Vermillion, Edgar, Douglas, Coles, and Southern Ford Counties.

Coles County Soil &Water Conservation District Foundation Scholarship

Applicants must be a high school senior or accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a college, university, or vocational school as a full-time student in a field related to conservation of natural resources.Demonstrate potential for successful completion of a degree, and be a resident or former resident of Coles County.Scholarship will be awarded based on academic performance and honors, GPA, class rank, interest in conservation of natural resources, major field of study and its relationship to conservation, work ethic/study habits, intellectual aptitude and interest, leadership community service and financial need.

TRI-STATE DESK & DERRICK CLUB 2020 TECH/OR TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

For all high school graduates & GED recipients who will be attending TECHNICAL OR TRADE SCHOOL in 2020.Recipient will receive up to $3,000 per school year for ONE year.Recipient MUST re-apply for subsequent years.

THE ILLINOIS HEARTLAND DECORATIVE ARTISTS

A local chapter affiliated with the National Society of Decorative Painters, has established a First Place $1000 scholarship for a graduating senior who will attend an accredited art program following high school graduation.This money will be provided directly to the college they will be attending for tuition and fees in two installments, one installment each semester of their freshman year. IHDA will also award $250 of art supplies to the student’s high school Art Department to further Art Education.

MITCH WEBB MEMORIAL WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is a one-time grant available for senior wrestlers of the Apollo Conference (excluding Mattoon) and including Shelbyville and Cumberland High Schools.At least one recipient will be chosen from all qualified applicants.Scholarship will be awarded each year that funds are available.At least one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for 2020.The award will be paid directly to the recipient’s college or trade school.

CHARLESTON FIREFIGHTERS SCHOLARSHIP

Charleston Firefighters will be awarding four, $500 one time scholarships to a CHS senior planning to attend a university/community college.City of Charlestonemployees & any of their dependents are ineligible.Academic perform & financial need will be a primary consideration.

CHARLESTON COUNTRY CLUB LADIES EVENING GOLF LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is given on an academic year, based on a student’s scholastic achievement, financial need and the availability of funds.Eligibility is as follows:Any person accepted into, or currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college curriculum.Applicant must be a CCC member, CCC member’s child or grandchild.Applicant must have played on a high school golf team or is currently playing on a college team.They do not have to play golf in college in order to be eligible.In order to be competitive, a 3.5 GPA out of 4 points or a 4.5 GPA out of 5 points is desirable.

Jordan Holly Memorial Scholarship

The 2020 scholarship will award $2314 to a graduating CHS senior who will be attending college or university and pursuing a career that will help children (pediatric medicine, education, speech pathology, child social services, etc.).Applicants must be in good academic standing (the top 25% of their graduating class).The awardee will be announced on Senior Award Night.

Donald J. Lindley and Belle H. Lindley Scholarship

Will be awarded to graduating seniors attending high school located in the county of Coles, Edgar, Clark, Cumberland and Douglas in the State of Illinois and Vermillion County in the State of Indiana.The student must demonstrate financial need, have high scholastic standing, (GPA cannot be lower than 3.0) and be deemed the most-worthy.Each student selected for the scholarship will also have the opportunity to receive additional funds in subsequent years for up to 4 years of college education.

Sarah Bush Volunteer Guild Scholarship

Any person accepted into, or currently enrolled full-time in a hospital-related health care professional curriculum is eligible.Applicants enrolled in an associate degree or hospital-based program will be considered their first year.In order to be competitive, a 4.5 GPA out of 5.0 GPA is desirable.

The Golden Apple Scholars

Each Scholar will receive a scholarship of $2500 per year for freshman and sophomore years and $5000 per year for junior and senior years.This scholarship is contingent upon completion of a 4-year teacher preparation program and maintaining a minimum 2.5 (4.0) GPA and teaching in an Illinois school of need for five years.Summer Institute stipend of $2,000 per summer. Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative Scholarship

Six $500 scholarships will be awarded.One must be either a Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative member or under 21 years of age and a legal dependent of a Coles-Moultrie member.Priority will be given to one applicant specializing in Electrical Technology.
