Students in my classroom experience a new style of learning science.  I believe that a child learns more by doing.  Therefore, students in my classroom are engaged in many experiences and different types of inquiry activities.  Students will create interactive notebooks that use both right brain (creative expressions of understanding) and left brain (orderly and systematic input)  hemispheres to help them sort, categorize, remember and creatively interact with the new knowledge they are gaining.  Using the whole brain in this manner has proven to increase learning tremendously. CMS has adopted a new science program entitled "FOSS."  FOSS stands for Full Option Science System and was developed by Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California at Berkely.  This is a handns-on science program using concrete experiences, representational materials, reading, writing, math, creative arts, schoolyard "field trips," and group work.  to reach the multimedia resources, click on the "FOSS" link.  Click on the links above to find links and additional information about my curriculum.
