A student’s G.P.A. is one of the criteria for college entrance. Employers may also use the G.P.A. for job placement. G.P.A. is calculated as follows:

- *The student’s GPA is calculated for all of his/her classes without any weighting applied.
- *The total extra grade points earned from Honors or AP courses will then be divided by 48 and added to the non-weighted GPA, yielding the weighted GPA. (For example, if a student took one Honors and one AP and received an A in both, then they would have (.5+1.25)/48 or 1.75/48 added to their non-weighted GPA to determine their weighted GPA.)
- *Each student’s weighted and non-weighted GPA will be recorded on the student’s transcript.
- The recorded class rank will be based on weighted GPA.
- *A student’s academic history earned prior to the beginning of the 2013-14 school year will be preserved on his/her transcript.
- *Each year’s cumulative GPA will reflect the formula for GPA that was in effect for the year that the grade points were earned. To do so, the students cumulative GPA prior to 2013-2014 will be multiplied by the number of courses they took prior to 2013-14. Their non-weighted cumulative GPA for courses taken in 2013-2014 or later will be multiplied by the number of courses they have taken in 2013-2014 or later. Those two values are added and divided by the total number of classes taken. Then the total extra grade points earned from Honors or AP courses taken in 2013-2014 or later will be divided by 48 and added to that GPA yielding the final "mixed method" weighted GPA.

Grade points are calculated in the following way: | |
---|---|

NON-WEIGHTED | WEIGHTED |

“A” - (5) points | “A” - (5.5 or 6.25) points |

“B” - (4) points | “B” - (4.4 or 5.0) points |

“C” - (3) points | “C” - (3.3 or 3.75) points |

“D” - (2) points | “D” - (2.2 or 2.5) points |

“P” - (0) points | “P” - (0) points |

“F” - (0) points | “F” - (0) points |

“S” - (0) points | “S” - (0) points |

“U” - (0) points | “U” - (0) points |

“WP” - (0) points | “WP” - (0) points |

“WF” - (0) points | “WF” - (0) points |

Honor Roll- | is determined by G.P.A. |

High Honors- | G.P.A. of 4.750 and above |

Honors- | G.P.A. of 4.250 to 4.749 |

If a student has a grade below a “C” he/she will not be eligible for the Honor Roll. |
